Malév expands Moscow connection

05/05/2008

From 3 July Malév is upping its Moscow flights by a further three a week, taking the total number of scheduled air links between Budapest and Moscow to ten a week. The Monday, Thursday and Sunday flights with an evening departure and return the following morning are extremely convenient for both business travellers and tourists flying from Moscow to Budapest, because they allow passengers to get the maximum out of both the departure and return days.

Scheduling of Moscow flight MA108/9 also provides connections to the Hungarian national carrier's routes to southeast Europe. As a consequence, the services meet the demands of Russian travel offices organizing trips not only to Budapest but onward to the southeast Europe region.

Furthermore, there are equally good connections at Moscow's Domodedovo airport, where passengers arriving at dawn with flights of AiRUnion and S7 from beyond the Urals can transfer smoothly onto the Malév service departing for Budapest in the morning. In order to exploit the full potential offered by the Russian market, Malév is steadily widening its commercial relations with local carriers flying in and out of Domodedovo airport.

In the first four months of 2008 passenger traffic on Malév's Russian flights increased by 23%, while revenue climbed by 36%. In addition to the daytime services of the airline operating every day of the week, the three new weekly Moscow connections launching in early July provide further opportunities to boost passenger turnover from the region.

Malév switched its Moscow operations from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo, the most dynamically developing air hub in Russia, on 30 March 2008. Malév operations at the new airport got off to a good start, both for customers and for the airline. In April, the airport registered Malév as the third most punctual airline from among the 72 carriers running flights to Domodedovo. Malév customers not only enjoy on-time arrivals and departures but also the range of services offered by this state-of-the-art airport, particularly the high-speed rail link between the air hub and Moscow city centre.

Domodedovo International Airport is located 22 km southeast of Moscow. It is easily accessed at any time of the day. There is a modern highway connection to the city as well as reliable public transport and taxi services. The airport offers convenient hotel accommodation and parking, too.
